As the World Cup began, Qatar’s cultural story was also taking the stage.
Invited by Qatar Museums during the opening period of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, I joined editors from internationally recognized magazines to report on Doha’s art and cultural landscape.
The assignment included visits to major museums, art spaces, cultural landmarks, festivals, and interviews with senior leaders across Qatar’s art and culture ecosystem. For Chinese lifestyle and culture readers, the story looked beyond the tournament itself, exploring how Qatar was using a global sports moment to introduce a broader cultural identity shaped by museums, architecture, contemporary art, heritage, and city development.
I was responsible for both writing and photography, shaping the editorial angle through interviews, reporting, and original images shot independently throughout the trip.
All photography featured below was shot by me.
